Disaster Relief for Haiti Earthquake Victims
Message From: FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE GRAND LODGE - January 14, 2010
The Fraternal Order of Police is always at its best when we decide to assist our fellow citizens and our communities. Our past is full of examples of the FOP stepping up to the plate in time of need.
It may be when we lose one of our own, when someone in our city or town has been displaced due to flood or fire, or when we assist the victims of natural disasters.
That is why on behalf of the National Fraternal Order of Police Disaster Relief Committee I am asking for all members of this organization to assist us in providing necessary aid to the people of Haiti.
The Disaster Relief committee would like to challenge each State Lodge to donate $200.00, each Local Lodge to donate $50.00 and for individual members to donate $5.00 towards the relief effort.
As in past disasters the National FOP Foundation will act as a conduit for donations and we will provide assistance to the American Red Cross and to the Salvation Army. As any of you know, when there is a disaster the first hot meal you get is usually from the Salvation Army and the first blanket is from the Red Cross.
The Florida State Lodge has started the pledges of support with a generous Donation of $500.00.
Please send your donations to 701 Marriott Drive, Nashville TN 37214. Please indicate on your check that these funds are for the FOP Haiti Relief Effort.
Thank you in advance
Chuck Canterbury

Kentucky State FOP Elects New President
For the first time in 18 years the Kentucky State FOP Membership elected a new president. Michael "Spike" Jones was elected during the 2009 Fall Board Meeting 11/14 - 11/15. Martin Scott, Kentucky's President for the last 18 years, had announced his decision to retire from his post earlier this year. Jones ran unopposed and was sworn in on Sunday. In attendance, were National FOP E-Board members President Chuck Canterbury and Secretary Patrick Yoes.
